From the campus beat to the national desk

Kamran Siddiqui is a Senior Staff Correspondent at The Business Standard, an English-language national daily in Dhaka. He covers labour migration and manpower, civil aviation, tourism and hospitality, and diplomatic affairs.

He started in journalism as a campus correspondent while studying zoology at Jahangirnagar University, where he went on to serve as president of the university's journalists' association. He joined Daily Samakal as an apprentice reporter in 2014, moved to The Business Standard in 2019, and was promoted to Senior Staff Correspondent in 2025.

His migration reporting follows Bangladeshi workers from recruitment to remittance, and it has been recognised with the BRAC Migration Media Award. Beyond his beats, he follows strategic affairs, security and economic development across Asia. In 2026 he was selected as an Asia Journalism Fellow in Singapore.
